When To Say No To Lawn Ornaments

Lawn ornaments are items that can really spruce up your yard. When used correctly they can add character, style, and interest to an otherwise dull area. You can find them in many different varieties. You can choose from statues, gazing balls, signs, stakes, and much more. There are products for people with any type of interest. For instance, you can find items that are great for teachers or even dog lovers. With all of that being said, it should be noted that you can certainly ruin a yard when you use these lovely items inappropriately. To avoid this catastrophe, consider these three tips.

Enough Is Enough

The number one mistake people make when using lawn décor is using too much of it. It really does not take a lot to make an area lovely. There is no reason you should be using items in every inch of your space. Make sure there is at least three to six feet in between your ornaments, unless they go together. For instance, if you have a three piece set, you can put those three pieces together. If you have too many decorative pieces, rotate them in and out throughout the year. This will help you avoid using too many at once. Using too many items at once will create a cluttered look and take away from the beauty of each piece.

Classy Style

When you are decorating your yard, consider what you are using. Make sure each piece has an element of class. Refrain from using tacky items that you know should not be used. Natural looking décor will always look better than cartoon or bright décor. Try to use the style of your home and yard and carry it into your yard as well. Despite what you may think, those pink flamingos are probably not the best option, unless you are having a party.

Hazardous Designs

Even with all their beauty, lawn ornaments can become hazardous if not placed in the proper places. Be careful when you are working on your design. Be sure that you are not blocking any paths or natural walkways with décor. Keep in mind that you should always be able to get your mower or trimmer around the décor as well. You will get frustrated if you have to move each piece every time you mow. It is better to be safe than sorry, so be sure to keep safety in mind when placing your items.
